About Sonia

Sonia Mastros has been married to George Mastros for over 24 years. They have lived in the Gilbertsville area for over 13 years. Two of their grandsons live with them and will be attending Boyertown Middle School West in the Fall of 2021. Their daughter is currently away at College and will be graduating in May of 2021.

Sonia was born in Puerto Rico and moved to Allentown, Pennsylvania when she was only 3 years old. Getting married at a young age has given Sonia the opportunity to thoroughly enjoy life with her family and friends. Sonia is an avid golfer, loves dancing salsa, getting together with her girl gang, traveling with other golfing couples and wine tastings.

Orbit Software was founded in 1998 and grew to focus on school bus routing and scheduling programs, GPS vehicle and student tracking programs, and custom computer software, for optimizing routes, improving student safety and parent satisfaction. George Mastros, Sonia’s husband, with his much-sought-after programming credentials, was a natural fit for the company. Soon — with the full support of his entrepreneurial wife, Sonia—George seized the opportunity to take partial ownership of the firm. By the end of 1998, Sonia had joined George at Orbit, bringing her business development background into the mix.

Together, George and Sonia grew the business, adding school districts nationwide to their cadre of customers. Orbit was a growing family of programmers and business development professionals, and Sonia was committed to making Orbit a true “value-added” workplace. Orbit attracted prime new talent with its generous employee benefits package and wholesale support of employee professional growth.

But, by 2004, Orbit’s growth had stagnated. In, 2005, George and Sonia struck a deal to purchase the then-flourishing Orbit completely from its original owners. But, since then, client budget cuts brought on by the Great Recession and now the Corona Virus have tested Sonia’s skills and abilities to keep the doors open.

Sonia has been involved with Orbit for the past 23 years, during which time, she has personally overseen many projects for various customers from all over the country. Customers ranging from large urban and suburban districts to smaller rural school districts. In all cases, her primary goal was to improve their transportation operations effectively saving the districts money while ensuring student safety.

Sonia is an avid golfer, was the president of her women’s golf league and former finance chairperson at her church, knows the value of community involvement.
